Roque Palmés viewpointThe Mirador Roque Palmés or also known as Mirador El Toscón is located in the neighborhood of El Toscón de Tejeda, it is a small neighborhood with a group of houses around its large square with a beautiful church, from where we can enjoy beautiful views of the Northwest of Gran Canaria, highlighting the mountains with the Valle de La Aldea in the background and the Parralillo dam.
Account, since September 24, 1958, with a bell tower that is located in the viewpoint, it is one of the most unique points and with the best views of the municipality of Tejeda. It was refurbished in 2014, with improved access to the viewpoint through a stone staircase and a wall of the same material with a wooden railing to provide greater security when enjoying the wonderful views. Mainly the Roque Palmés, which gives its name to the viewpoint itself, and which is considered a Protected Natural Space, as it forms part of the Parque Rural del Nublo, It has an altitude above sea level of 1,095 m.
This roque, less popular, but similar in beauty to Roque Nublo or Roque Bentayga, is also known as “Risco Palmés” >. The neighbors say that this cliff performed the functions of an authentic “Solar Clock”, since the shadow cast by the silhouette of the Roque perfectly indicated the position of the sun in its transit day. Geologically it is a spectacular stone monolith that has been freed between the Barrancos del Toscón and del Roque, inside the great Caldera de Tejeda.
